With a Golden Charter Funeral Plan your payments are protected. Your money is paid into the Golden Charter Trust, a separate entity from Golden Charter and is run by an independent board of trustees who are chosen for their skills, experience and they safeguard the payments made by our plan holders. They make sure all future payments can be made, which means we can guarantee the funeral director services included in your plan.

Our bespoke funeral plans can accommodate all wishes and all personal circumstances. If you would prefer a non-religious or humanist ceremony, we can capture your wishes and ensure that your specific funeral requirements are documented and enacted when the time comes.
Depending on what you have planned, there can be some significant costs involved with making funeral arrangements. This is a common source of stress for surviving family members, and the added financial burden can make an already challenging time that extra bit more difficult. With all the above pre-paid funeral plans you can choose any funeral director you may wish to use.
Once you have taken care of the funeral arrangements. You can personalise your plan as much or as little as you want to, from adding special requests such as funeral stationery, hymns, readings, or requesting your favourite flowers, or arranging a minister to conduct the ceremony, it’s up to you.
Yes, simply complete the ‘plan holder’s representative’ section of the application process.
We will arrange for all correspondence to be sent to you, however if paying by fixed monthly payment, please note the plan holder will be contacted directly by Phoenix Life Limited who provide this payment option.
Please let us know you are moving so we can update our records. You will have the option to move your plan to a different funeral director, if required.
If you cancel within 30 days we will refund the payment you have made. For details of cancellation terms after 30 days, please contact our office.
As an additional benefit, should you die away from home but within mainland UK, we will arrange transportation back to the funeral home. Overseas transportation is not included in your plan. Please refer to the terms and conditions. for full details.
We will inform you if this happens and appoint a new funeral director in accordance with your wishes.
You can tell us about any special wishes for your funeral when you apply. If these incur additional costs, not covered by your plan, these will need to be paid at the time of the funeral.
As a plan holder you will receive a membership pack containing contact details for your funeral director. When the time comes your family simply contacts the funeral director and quotes your plan number. The funeral director will then take care of all the arrangements.
If you have a preferred funeral director, you can let us know when you apply. If you don’t have any preference, we will simply appoint a funeral director near to you from our network of local independent funeral directors. Golden Charter will make every effort to allocate your plan to your selected funeral director, however this is not always possible. If this is the case, we will contact you to advise you of this and discuss an alternative choice of funeral director.”
Your payments are protected. Depending on how you have chosen to pay, your money will be paid into the Golden Charter Trust or a life assurance policy with Phoenix Life Limited. It will be held there until needed to pay for your funeral arrangements.
When your plan is accepted, you will receive a Plan Documents pack which includes full details of your chosen funeral plan, your payment schedule and what to do at time of need. You’ll also find a membership card and a certificate containing your plan number (with a spare certificate to give to your next of kin). Contact information for your funeral director is also included and they will be happy to hear from you if you’d like to discuss any aspect of your funeral plan.
We may also call you to make sure you are happy with the details of your plan and payment choice.
